Monotonic interpolation for BH curves
The robustness of BH curve interpolation is improved thanks to the implementation of a monotonic interpolation method on top of already existing methods. Indeed, while a linear interpolation might be fragile when data points are missing, monotonic interpolation is more tolerant with missing data and still provides a physically representative curve for improved material properties consideration.
Anisotropic winding thermal conductivity
The fidelity of electric machine thermal behavior is improved by accounting for thermal anisotropy in the windings, which is due to the winding design. The anisotropic thermal conductivity parameters are estimated in Simcenter SPEED, transferred via an export file and automatically set in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ at the right location to perform thermal management simulation and analysis.
As an accurate thermal resistance can be also exported from Simcenter SPEED to Simcenter STAR-CCM+, the heat transfer estimation between the lamination and the windings is improved for a more accurate heat distribution computation as a consequence. This thermal resistance is estimated from the ratio between the slot liner's thickness and its thermal conductivity.
Wound-Field rotor option in Simcenter Amesim
Finally, the export process from Simcenter SPEED to Simcenter Amesim has been made easier for Wound Field rotor machines. With an additional edit box for the field current in the export dialog, user experience is improved. This feature prevents the user from having to go back to Simcenter SPEED interface and modify the field parameter directly in the export window.
